Barbara Ween, stylist

Barbara excels at creating hair design for her clients by focusing on individual features, hair type, texture and lifestyle. It is important to her to collaborate with each client to find a result that has great style and ease of care. She especially enjoys working with challenges. Her own fine textured hair has been a catalyst for problem solving for clients who have had difficulty getting a good cut.

It is important to Barbara to have a salon where clients can relax, be themselves and know they will leave with a personalized and carefully crafted hair style. She loves the staff she works with and takes pride in the their experience and abilities. Sharing ideas and techniques helps them all provide the best possible experience for salon clients. To that end she and the staff also maintain close contact with Bumble & bumble and their network of colleagues for new ideas and products.

Barbara’s mentor was stylist Elaine Ohanassian who worked for years at the Michelle Kazan (of Jackie Kennedy fame) Salon in Boston. She was Barbara’s stylist for years. Elaine was a master at cutting and creating many innovative styles and at explaining how to keep them looking great. Her influence ultimately led Barbara to also become a hair design practitioner.

A personal situation with a client’s hair loss due to cancer, as well as Barbara’s own episode of hair thinning spurred her on to learn about hair loss of all kinds. She studied custom wig design and hair replacement and has carried an inventory of wigs and hairpieces since that time. She and stylist Emerald Glenn are available to help clients experiencing hair loss with a wide range of possible solutions.

In addition to the salon, Barbara holds a BFA degree from UMass in Music and Art Therapy and is a professional jazz vocalist, and an exhibiting watercolorist.
